Homemade Hummus is a delicious and versatile dip or spread that is made with a few simple ingredients. Chickpeas are a great source of protein and fibre and low in fat.

Ingredients
- 1 can (400g) chickpeas
- 3 Tbsp. low-fat cottage cheese, smooth
- 5 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley
- 1Tbsp. olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water
Instructions
- Mix all of the above ingredients in a blender/liquidiser until a smooth consistency. Water can be added if it is too thick.
- Store in a glass jar in the fridge.
- Use when needed.
Dip or spread
- This can be used as a dip for raw vegetables as a lunchbox addition or as pre-snacks at a braai.
- It can also be used as a spread on bread instead of butter or margarine.
