CHEERS WORLD DIABETES DAY WITH A HEALTHY MOCKTAIL!
Dear members and friends,
After a long cold, often wet and windy winter, remember that as Anita Krizzan wrote, “Spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer.”
The main theme for this issue is Food, Fitness and Feelings. You will find fabulous recipes, fresh ideas for fitness and fantastic good feelings.
There are many interesting and informative articles in this issue. Please make time to read them all. We have been involved with Diabetes SA since 1988 and are still learning more about diabetes care and management.
We find the testimonies of young and not so young people with diabetes most encouraging. Be sure to read Chelsea Schippers’ story Expressing your feelings is essential; her partner, Sebastian Machill’s story Making her life as easy as possible; Bernadette Gibbs’ story I’m not allowed to eat anything green; and Afton Thysse’s story Managing diabetes during an unplanned pregnancy.
Please encourage your family and friends to read Diabetes Focus, as well as visit diabetessa.org.za and the Diabetes South Africa Facebook page.
Friendly greetings,
Martin Prinsloo, National Chairman of Diabetes SA
and Elizabeth Prinsloo, Branch person of Diabetes SA, Port Elizabeth
