Hypoglycaemia

This is the medical term for low blood glucose (below 4mmol/L) and is an emergency. If untreated, it can lead to coma and premature death. It’s recommended for all people with diabetes to carry glucose sweets, or sugary drinks with them at all times to treat a sudden low. It’s also important to eat something as soon as possible so that your blood glucose doesn’t drop again. Symptoms of a low can be intense sweating, confusion, dizziness, headache  if the person is unable to respond, it should be treated as an emergency.
