Greetings to all members and friends,
I hope this finds you keeping well and avoiding the usual winter illnesses.
I must say that winter is not my favourite season weather wise. I do, however, enjoy the variety of meals we can make with all the many soup recipes, stews, curries, roasts and variety of vegetable dishes, which are family favourites. It is also an opportunity to explore some new hot drink ideas to keep the chill out and your hands and body warm. I hope you enjoy the winter recipe ideas we have shared.
We have lots of excuses during winter to stop or slow down on our exercise routines, which of course is the time when we need the exercise most. This helps to prevent stiffness and weight gain during winter months.
Our usual excuse is the time factor, when really it is often more the weather and the desire to stay warm indoors. I realised the other day that we can include excercise indoors in winter in short bursts.
My children laugh and pull faces at me, but I now do squats and stretching whilst waiting for the kettle to boil or the food to complete cooking, or the sink to fill up.
While watching TV or lying in bed, I do leg stretches and sit ups etc. It has made me grasp that where there’s a will, there’s a way and there is no time like the present. I certainly feel less stiff and more flexible for it.
